Specific properties
At high temperature , Hastelloy is strengthened and hardened, and is typically used in cases of strong oxidation or reducing chemicals. Hastelloy has typically a higher corrosion resistance compared to Inconel, while Inconel has higher strength and superior resistance to high temperatures.
It has a tensile strength typically in the range of 690 to 785 MPa.
C-type alloys contains a high percentage of nickel, Chromium and molybdenum, and has a high resistance against reducing environments. C-276 is for instance commonly used against oxidizing agents, pitting, stress corrosion cracking and intergranular corrosion. In some cases Coek provides a surface treatment or shotpeening activity, to increase the corrosion resistance at the surface.
Variable grades
Hastelloy and inconel come in various grades, each tailored to perform in environments where resistance to strong oxidizers, reducing agents or extreme heat is critical.
Hastelloy grades
Inconel grades
Hastelloy grades are typically suitable for severely corrosive envionments, and contain more molybdenum.
Inconel has lower corrosion resistance properties and contains typically chromium concentrations, but can provide high strength at elevated temperatures.

type
Hastelloy and Inconel products
Hastelloy and Inconel products are selected for their exceptional resistance to corrosion, high temperatures, and stress, making them ideal for demanding chemical and high-performance applications.
Reactors
Reactors
— Acetic AcidReactors for Acetic Acid are fabricated are based on C2000 or Hastelloy C276 clad equipment. These items are operating under very severe corrosion conditions, and corrosion resistance was improved by shot peaning treatment of the surface.
Reactors
— PolysiliconFor polysilicon, Alloy 800H material is used under high temperature. The Alloy800H materials do require restricted heat treatment procedures to assure the corrosion resistance properties required to operate for this type of application.
Columns
Columns
— Acetic AcidCoek has produced hastelloy columns in C276 and C22 material for Acetic acid applications for several Acetic Acid projects in Saudi Arabia and Taiwan. Detailed overview can be given in the reference list on Acetic acid.
S&T Heat exchangers
Heat Exchanger
— Bio FuelsHeat exchangers were fabricated using C276 weldoverlay for the shells, and Sanicro(TM) 35 for the tube materials and internals. The main trigger to use Sanicro 35 materials is the similar corrosion resistance for the used application, but a much lower material cost due to lower Ni content of the material.
Hastelloy and Inconel Applications
Hastelloy is the material of choice for highly corrosive environments, offering reliable performance in chemical processing applications involving aggressive acids, chlorides and solvents.
