Specific properties
High strength carbon steel is typically less ductile and more brittle which requires more precautions during welding, handling of the materials during fabrication. Preheating and post weld heat treatment is typically a must to avoid cracking. In some cases tempering is required to improve toughness.
The Chromium-molybdenum alloy steels are typically used in case of high temperature applications, and in case high tensile strengths are required at high temperature.
Variable grades
Solid carbon steel and cr-mo steel is available in various grades, each offering a balance between strength, ductility and weldability — making it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.
